Preferences: Adjust aspect ratio to back plate: Unchecked.

No back plate is used in my scene.

Scene Settings: 1040 W 1040 H Lock Aspect: Checked. Lock Resolution: Checked.

Render Settings: 1040 W x 1040 H

Save work. Open again.

Resolution now shows 891 x 891

Why does my locked resolution setting change when I reopen the file?

My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050. Is that the reason? If so, maybe change the resolution field background color to red as a warning when specifying over-sized resolutions?
