Title: Interior (Close-Up Steering Wheel)
Post by: feher on June 20, 2013, 09:47:10 AM
Been awhile since I did an interior.
HDRILightStudio4 for lighting.
I also used two ies lights for that extra pop and rim light on steering wheel.
I used the DOF for the first time in Keyhsot. Now I know why I do it myself in PS

Nice renders Tim, but this a good example of why displacement is needed in KS, the close-up shot of the steering wheel leather could have benefited from it...

I've always found the DOF in KS really intuitive and it always gives great results, although admittedly it can be a tad noisy at times, depends on the scene.

Really nice!
What render times were you getting on what machine(s)?
The DOF seems really smooth.

I actually prefer to use DOF in KeyShot over Photoshop. For the rare occasions where I need it.
I think it gives much better results than postwork when you have emissives and/or strong highlights in your scene.

If I didn't render this with DOF on it would have rendered in little over an hour. With DOF it took 15 hours. Now I did increase the quality on the DOF. So that might have increased the time too.

Use the realtime render mode, Tim. It will go much faster when DOF is present.
