Title: Bump maps in 'labels'
Post by: edwardo on July 30, 2013, 07:16:50 AM
The more I 'play around', the more I feel the need for the ability to add bump maps to labels. Been attempting some automotive renders recently, and like to add dirt on the tyres and skirtings, and tyre tracks on the ground plane where appropriate etc etc. would also like to add things like bullet holes, and vandalism scratches/graffiti and want to control and position each feature independently.

Is it (theoretically) possible to add bump maps to labels?

A while back metal master illustrated a work around whereby he had a base material, a bump map with eroded patches, then the corresponding rust patches (diffuse material with transparent background) were added as a png file in the 'labels 'section (mapping type and x y position had to be dialled in manually). This leaves a lot of guessing work regarding positioning of features.

If this is possible I imagine rich, layered textures and super realism could be achieved?

Thanks
Ed
