1913 Speedster. SolidWorks.
KS4.2.35. Startup HDR. 30 seconds to import and paint. 22.6 seconds render on 32 cores.
This is gonna be FUN!

Looking real nice, Bill 8)
I'm jealous of your 32 core system, BTW.
Good work, Bill. Have you tried fiddling with the shadow multiplier yet? There are some interesting effects to be had.
Looks really great!

Yep- a lot now. There's a problem area in the radiator that gets filled and blotchy, so this is about the best I can do with the front view. The fins are just too small. I'll unlink this and use a different line weight. Used transparency for the windshield.
When I can I'm going to really work on toons, as I think it will become a very valuable tool for prints. This prints beautifully on Epson Velvet Fine Art medium!

Well, I spent some time on this today, and learned a lot. Like for some reason the full render does not match the realtime or realtime preview by a lot- the contour width (line weight) is very strong realtime, and quite subtle in full render. So pull region renders to check stuff out before the real deal. The 4950 wide rendered in 5:13 on 32 cores.
But the bottom line is that toon is frigging awesome! I printed this full A3 size on 13x19 Brilliant Satin Matte Natural, my favorite media. Absolutely stunning gallery quality print!
Good job, Luxion Team!

That is fabulous.
Of course, when it's 'tooned' it's difficult to tell what materials are used. Did you make extensive use of 'shaded ballpoint' and have you used many other 'toon' materials there? I find the final effect depends very much on the HDR - those shadows are nice.
Superb!
Hey Bill, those look fantastic.
Excellent work Bill, I love the toon shaders in KS too.

Sort of, in my experience so far. Tooning is simple on the surface, but has more variables than perhaps any other material, or should I say, rendering concept. You really need to experiment as tweaks can be very subtle. It helps to jot notes as you work.
It appears that the HDR primarily affects the ground shadow, and I've tried almost all of my 100+ HDR's. The color(s) of the HDR have no impact at all, but a huge impact on the shadowing complexity. Guess what- "Startup" seems to work the best for my needs with this new print series, as the ground shadow is subtle. But complex outdoor HDR's are also proving most interesting.
Brightness is also subtle, but has a huge impact on transparency. I'm using glass now for lenses and window glazing, instead of transparent toon, and the fact that it is glass is not really discernible against the toon.
For the Speedster I used a tweak of "Toon Color" white, with a Contour Width of 0.242, Angle 60 and a 0.466 Shadow Multiplier.
I had a problem with the update install, and Claus recommended a clean full install, which I did and resolved the issue. BUT- the full install did not include the all important "Toon Color" library that was in the 4.1.35 build. I ALWAYS make a full Resources backup prior to any update or install, then simply copy over my custom materials, which included Toon Color. So if you did a fresh install, check this.
Bottom line- I think the Luxion Team has created a very friendly monster with Toon, and it will prove to be a game changer for them. But it's very flexible and nuanced, so it takes more time to play with than meets the eye.

Great job Bill, the radiator looks much better now.
The only thing bothering me is the Dunlop tires. Shouldn't tires always be Firestone's on Fords? (Though I suppose there were exceptions.)
The Dunlop Cord tires were very popular after-market "racing" tires especially for the wire wheels, perfect for those high speed 40 MPH races!

Thanks for the tips, Bill - that is very enlightening - much appreciated.

This is just fabulous looking Bill! Very nice. Bet it looks great on the wall :)
gorgeous model and renders! love the toon shading in KS :)
