Title: Procedural Gradients
Post by: NormanHadley on October 25, 2013, 05:01:46 AM
One nice-to-have would be a procedural fade. I'm thinking about situations when you want a ground plane to fade out from the middle. You can add an opacity map with one of the existing texture bitmaps but they never seem to fade at the desired rate. A procedural would give you much more control.

It could also be used for faded cutaways and fades between photo-real and toon imagery without post-processing.

Hi Thomas. Great, so I guess I'm contractually obliged to ask....when is KS5 due to land?

+1 on this!

I was helping someone figure out how to do a clear to frosted glass fade and a procedural gradient would be very handy in these cases, rather than jumping back and forth with PS.
