Hey!
I would love to create a material that is similar to these images below
I think it can be done with a double sided material, if the front layer is slightly transparent chrome metal and the back is translucent black...
Is this possible?
I found a thread here but the links to the files are all broken!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to do a similar thing. I am in the transportation lighting industry and have a request to render a (non-lit) amber turn signal bulb that has a (transparent) chrome finish over the amber glass. Or to be more specific, the finish is actually a (polished aluminum) over amber glass. I need to be able to make a "metal" characteristic material semi-transparent like the OP's example. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks.
One way to do it is to create a metal material and use a color gradient set to 'view direction' to control the opacity.
See attached.
