Title: OBJ file recognized as 1 part: selects entire model when assigning material
Post by: Nick on November 13, 2013, 07:17:28 PM
Hi,

I imported a OBJ file made of separate parts (made in Blender).
I want to assign different materials to each part, but KeyShot applies 1 material to the entire model! Is there any way around this?

Thank you very much,
Nick

There is .... Use the scene list in the project manager and select the part that needs the material, then you can drag n drop from the library any material you want.

Unlink the materials by right clicking on the object folder in the scene tree, then go to material, unlink material.  The same goes for if you want multiple objects to share a material, just select them in the scene tree while holding shift and right click, material, link material.

Is the OBJ file one part in the scene tree? If so, try and change the import setting from import by material to import by part.

Since I still have a similar issue in KS 4 and 5: How is this setting changed? I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

Best,
Martin
