I'd twiddle the materials some for a more realistic render too, but I like the ostentatious style of this render. Great model too :)

Don't know how easy it is to view, copy and learn from that.

Also there's this tutorial, it costs money but it's a very solid walk through - http://www.solidworksaudir8.com/tutorial.php

He (the guy who did the R8) has a few tutorials out there, I'd recommend them.
