Title: Space Navigator
Post by: imfastrnu2 on May 12, 2014, 08:56:23 AM
Does Anyone use the 3Dconnexion Space Navigator? If so, how do you set it up for use in Keyshot 4.3 on Windows. For the life of me I can not figure out where to change the default button actions or how to change the way it rotates. It's kinda driving me crazy!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can control the behavior of the Space Navigator in the KeyShot preferences. In KeyShot 5 we will enable using the preference setting coming with the Space Navigator tools.

I use the SpaceExplorer.

I had problems importing initially. I now have the following options checked:

Location
[  ] Center Geometry
[  ] Snap to Ground
[O] Keep Original

Size
[  ] Same Scale as Last Import
[  ] Automatic
[O] Keep Original

Up Orientation
Y

I also have a separate setting on the 3Dconnexion Properties box.

Hope this is some help.

I selected "invert Axis" in the KeyShot preferences and that helped. There really isn't much else in there to adjust. So, at least it's rotating the way I like. Bowen192, I'm not sure if the 3Dconnexion properties box is different for your device but for the space navigator there is no option to select setting for specific programs, at least on the Windows version. All of the settings seem to apply across the board and I don't want to change them because they work fine in my other software (Blender, Rhino) The Mac version seems to to be able to do this. Surprising, because it's usually the Mac version that's lacking.

Really all I want is to set up my two buttons but I cant seem to do that, either in KeyShot or on the 3Dconnexion properties box.

On a side note... when can we expect to see KeyShot 5?
