Well, we're finally settling into our new home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Two months now, but seems like two weeks. The kitchen I designed (https://www.keyshot.com/forum/index.php/topic,8331.0.html (https://www.keyshot.com/forum/index.php/topic,8331.0.html)) is on order, my larger office is up and running, and my clients are relieved!
So now it's time for my wife Geri's painting and sculpture studio! Actually, it's a remodel of an existing, 12' x 24' almost new "Tuff Shed", which is very well built. We're lifting a portion of the roof for "head space" (and large paintings!), adding windows and doors, insulation, electrical, heat and drywall. So I did this render to show the contractor, and the SolidWorks model will serve as the blueprint.
I've been doing a lot of commissioned architectural rendering since moving here, and I've learned one very important trick. The designs are always site-specific, so the client provides (or I shoot) specific backplates of the site. Then, after doing the beauty shot with clown pass, I hide the model and render only the backplate. Then that one goes on top (Place Command) in Photoshop, allowing me to erase all (clown helps!) except foreground foliage and features. Foliage is painstaking, I will say. The final result is very effective. The "Perspective" tool in KeyShot 5 is a God-send, but in this case I could also align it to the existing structure. I also used the new "Sun-Sky" to light it at the same date, time of day and location of Santa Fe when I took the backplate shot.

So anyway, due to structural and framing issues, I had to switch to three clearstory lights (windows), so I did a new, and I think better, render. Also added some heavy wood grain bump to the walls- the Tuff Shed siding is really gnarly.
