Title: How to get wood grain pattern material?
Post by: oldsport23 on July 23, 2014, 07:55:55 PM
I'm playing around with keyshot and trying to get a woodgrain texture look seen in either of these 2 pairs of glasses:

I've tried playing around with the wood material presets but obviously can't come anywhere close.  Would appreciate some tips.

Thank you!

After just a few minutes of playing around with procedurals and dielectric material...

The woodgrain one isn't even close as a layered procedural would be required in order to achieve the mottled/stretched effect, but I think it looks OK

Excuse the model, it was a freebie from TurboSquid...

Wow #1 looks pretty damn good.  Can you please tell me which material/settings you used?  Thank you and much appreciated.

It has been uploaded to the KeyShot Cloud.

Play with the 'Scale' and 'Magnitude' settings to alter the shell scale. Change the 'Colour Density' parameter in the main material properties to make it more/less transparent.
