Title: Piping stuff / Metal fun
Post by: Esben Oxholm on August 12, 2014, 01:18:58 AM
I realised that I haven't used the metal shaders of KeyShot very much.
Inspired by the stunning work by Metal Master, I thought I would try to do something similar.

I modelled up some piping stuff in rhino and gave it a spin in KeyShot. A lot of the materials are from the cloud. Amazing resource. I think it came out quite nice.

Best regards.

Love it! Especially love the darker areas around the blends. How did you do that? UV-mapping?

Very neat!
This image should easily get 'Metalmaster certification'. :D

That's the magic of the procedural curvature texture, I guess. ;)

@Dries: Thank you! I believe some of the shaders I used, are created by you. Very neat as well :)

@MagnusS: Thanks. Yup, procedural curvature texture it is.

Very, very nice Esben... certification granted ;)

I think I see one of my materials in there as well, 'Hammertone Paint' but I'm not sure...

And thanks for the compliment, much appreciated...

Thanks a lot. Yup, you are right. It is hammertone paint. Nice one :)

Very convincing metal materials !!! They are keepers in my book.
Thanks for sharing.

Could you perhaps show the basic model without textures and effect? It would be good to see how much of a difference those materials made.

Thanks feher. Glad you like it.

Arn, you can download it and have a look at the model here: https://grabcad.com/library/piping-14#

Thanks! It is great to see that the geometry is relatively simple - I feel the new shader does a lot for freeing Keyshot of that sometimes a bit too clean look that could break realism in renders before.
