Title: Factory Robot
Post by: Chris Rosewarne on October 17, 2014, 11:36:23 AM
Hi everyone! Finally managed to finish this mech, it's a trial run at my Gumroad tutorial, 2D concept to Sketchup model, Keyshot rendering and post work in Photoshop. Just have to find the time to sit down and record this stuff!
After a few renders I ended up finding some great images of the McClaren car factory interior, so slick and modern, looks like a lab, also after much experimentation with materials I ended up colouring the body this hot McClaren sports car orange, it really popped in the white lab and also lends a bit of an industrial robotic feel to it... I also experimented with some LCD grain to give a digitised look to a couple views which I really like.

Hope you like it, with any luck the next post will be about the tutorial! :)

Fantastic work! Excited to see what's next. I like how the images provide a story for sure rather than just a stagnant character/design.

Thanks guys! :) All comments and feedback encourage me to stay up late and produce more.....! Its good motivation :)

Josh - Pleased you could read some sort of narrative with this, I didn't know where to take it but finding that backplate image helped, suddenly made sense in that environment...

Tutorial will hopefully follow next :)

Chris,
Very impressive modeling and rendering ? Materials look great. I like the first image the best. They all are good but that first image is #1 in my book.
Thanks for sharing
It's a keeper.
