Title: Which program for modeling organic shapes
Post by: jeffw on October 19, 2014, 11:22:44 AM
I am looking for suggestions on software for modeling the insulation blankets show here. It would have to be able to import/export my SolidEdge files as I would need to bring in my CAD model, model the insulation and then export it back to SolidEdge so I can bring it into Keyshot. They do not want to spend a lot so I have been considering Rhino or Modo. Any ideas if they can do this kind of modeling?

Thanks,

Jeff

Rhino is a must for this kind of modeling. To speed up the modifications you can add the Clayoo plugin dedicated for organic modeling : http://www.tdmsolutions.com/products/clayoo/

I'd agree with Arnaud, Rhino is great for this type of thing. If you are going to go the organic modeling plug-in for Rhino route, I would recommend looking at T-Splines as well as Clayoo to see which suits your needs.
