Title: Help importing from JewelCAD into KS
Post by: ZhuSpirit on November 05, 2014, 09:42:47 AM
I'm trying to import my JCAD files into KS but it brings in objects that are supposed to be subtracting from the rest of my rings. See the images below for examples of what I'm talking about.

Those extra pieces are supposed to be subtracting part of the rings so the diamonds can be held in place and to round the prongs hold the diamonds.

I've tried porting into Rhino and then into KS but I still have no luck.

Is there a similar option in KS that I could use to subtract?

Unfortunately there isn't. How are you importing the JewelCAD files? Via obj?

If I export DXF and STL  directly from JCAD into KS they both crash. I imported using IGS and that what imports the quickest into KS( And is the only exporting option that works directly into KS).

I've also tried exporting into Rhino and then into KS but it still doesn't help. I would be more than happy to share the JCAD file with someone so they could try themselves cause I'm out of options

JewelCAD should be able to export to KeyShot directly. Are you using the latest version?

No, I'm currently using 5.1 12 and I can't upgrade it

Have you contacted the JewelCAD people? They have developed the plugin.
