Title: Importing previous Materials and lighting from Keyshots 3 and 4 into 5
Post by: MotownMJ on November 14, 2014, 06:13:14 PM
Every time there is a numeric change to Keyshot, I end up going folder-by-folder to drag all of my custom and downloaded materials from the previous version into the new one: Is there an easier way to do this that I am missing?  >:(

Furthermore, even without the custom ones I've made, if you compare the folders of Materials from 4 to 5, there are a TON more materials in the basic folders in the previous version of Keyshot. Why?

@1 - You can import from within the material library.

@2 - We moved the content into the KeyShot cloud. This gives you convenient access to many more materials directly from within KeyShot - free of charge.

I used to do that until I realised there's a better way.
I now try and keep the latest install of Keyshot 'clean' and I've put the resources from previous Keyshot versions (materials/textures/environments, etc) in a 'shared resources' folder(s).
All you need to do then is point to the folders in 'Edit/preferences/folders' and add them to the default resources.

Thanks for the input - I never did find a Global Import for previous materials within the Material Library...
