Title: Metal Material - How to make this kind of material
Post by: lassheik on November 25, 2014, 08:56:16 PM
Hello,

New to Keyshot. Just want to know how to make metal material like this? Or is it even possible without post processing in Photoshop etc.

You might want to have a look at this: http://www.kirbyhasaportfolio.com/blast-runner-tutorial.html
it seems quite similar to what you want. There is a lot of wear and tear in both.
Especially those edges where the dark part is wearing away to reveal the material seem tricky. She does it by rendering multiple layers and then painting.

Thanks for that link! :) So it does require multiple render passes and a lot of post work...

Well you might be able to get an okay effect with a nice scratched bumpmap and color map on a matte painted material.
Often something like this would have a uv maps or something.
