Title: Workflow from C4D and Maya
Post by: velvetelvis on April 11, 2015, 04:25:24 AM
Hi - I was just wondering if anyone could point me at the right tutorial/resource. I'm trying to create animation (keyframe and dynamics/physics based, sometimes in Maya and sometimes in C4D - and bring into keyshot for render. I've tried with fbx and nothing happens - the geometry just stands still. Would anyone know of a guide for this? (The manual doesn't seem to cover it)

You need to export deformations as Alembic Cache (ABC) files and be running KS6, I have not tried any particle based animations but as far as i know they are not supported because the emitter is not geometry and KS can't inject the particles geometry on the fly. If you are using transformations, then FBX should work with either version 5 or 6

I currently use C4D for the animation.
I researched the ABC you talked about and I think this is only for Maya.

If you could redirect me to a C4D tutorial for this one or even some pictures of the process I would be thankfull.
