Title: Rendering/Modeling powder
Post by: Dar_T on June 15, 2015, 06:36:47 AM
Hi. I have a capsule that I want to fill partially with powder. I'm just very not sure on how to approach this. Should I be creating a generic blob in SW and then put a powder texture map? If anyone has suggestions or examples I would be greatly appreciative. :)

Hi Dar_T

It depends on your grain size I would say. In most cases I think it would be possible to do with a texture/material on an overall shape.
Do you have any references of what your're trying to achieve?

If that's as translucent as they will be, then i would do a basic wavy top from an internal copy and trim. If it looks as if the detail will show other than a blur or shadow, the just match the colour of your powder and apply a scaled down normals based bump map
