Title: Help! Rendering different from screen appearence
Post by: rod on December 09, 2010, 09:34:40 AM
When I uncheck "Detailed indirect Illumination" (under Options/"Real Time" tab) I do not get unwanted colors reflecting on parts of my model in realtime. When the option is checked I get the unwanted colors.

The problem is that no mater what I do, I cannot get the actual render to duplicate the real time settings so that I do not get the unwanted color reflections in the actual render.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Rod

When you do the "actual render" the "Detailed indirect Illumination" is turned on by default and cannot be turned off as this gives a more accurate result. So you are not going to be able to match the image in realtime with "Detailed indirect Illumination" turned off.

Yikes, I was going bonkers trying to duplicate what I saw on the screen. The model is a blue display on a retailer's gondola endcap. The realtime screen without "detailed indirect illumination" check is physically accurate to "real time" in an actual store. However, the actual rendering ends up casting a bluish tent on much of the gondola which will not happen in real life.

I do wish the option to cut this feature off in the actual rendering was available. Do you hear me Thomas (:

Anyway, John thanks much for the information! It saved me hours of fruitless work tonight. Any ideas on a work-around?
Rod

Perhaps you could try adjusting the material properties of either the part receiving the unwanted reflections or the part casting them. Its hard to know with seeing a screenshot of what you're trying to achieve.
