Title: Suggestions for hot metal surface - like a cooker ring..
Post by: jhiker on February 08, 2016, 08:43:14 AM
This is a job for tomorrow...
I want to simulate a hot metal surface - kind of like an electric cooker ring but mine's a flat circular disc - colour is reddy/orange bordering on yellow.
How would you tackle this - I'm on KS v6.
Thanks,
Jeff

I think i would try the new Infra-Red material in the miscellaneous materials and then play with the colours :)

Hi jhiker.

Did a quick test that you might find useful, even though I used a sphere and not a disc.
I started with the infra-red as Martin suggested, altered the colors and mapped a metal material on top of it to give it a bit more rough look.

Not sure if this is the look you are after at all? Do you have some reference pictures?

Check it out :)
