Title: Change Polygon Normal averages
Post by: twinch on April 21, 2016, 09:05:57 AM
Hey all,

This is my first post.  I am a visualization specialist in 3D Studio Max using VRay and Cebas Final Render.  I love Keyshot especially for quick clean renderings, with minimal setups...however...I am wondering if there is a way to average out the polygon normal angles to smooth out facets without needing to add more physical geometry faces to smooth out the curve?

In 3D Studio Max it is called Polygon Normal Smoothing where you dictate the threshold for smoothing in degrees of angle.

Thanks
Travis

Hey Travis-

Check out the Geometry Editor. Right-click your object and choose Edit Geometry, then Edit Normals from the option list. Here you can set a minimum edge angle and calculate vertex normals.

Thanks Eric.  I'll check that out now.
