Title: glowing candle - quick solution
Post by: LayC42 on April 23, 2016, 10:23:39 AM
hello everyone.

Today I solved a problem, that I carried around for a while. And here's a quick solution of a candle with glowing light.
What do you think?

It shows promise for sure, i would prefer to see a flame with a more pointed terminal and with some steps/flicker which should be doable with opacity  map somewhere  :-\

hello Martin.
You can play with the material of the flame. I changed it to area light or xray. The 'long time problem' was the glowing effect.
Perhaps someone will pimp this flame and post his results?

Hi,
Without your section plane and an opacity map on the flamme texture as Martin said.

I like Finema's edit. That's definitely not bad for a quick solution. I think the ground plane could use some love. Also, would be interested to see what the scene looks like when the candle flame is the only light source. Does it put out enough light to illuminate the floor a bit?

So - I was just playing with an opacity map (in this case I realize, when camera projection mode as mapping option can be useful).
And now I can build up a scene with more natural geometry.
