Title: Does bump height change with scaling?
Post by: mara5a on October 31, 2016, 04:49:05 AM
Hi, as is question in topic name. If I increase double my Bump texture Scale from does the height of bumps also change? Or are the two values independent to a degree?

Hello,

They are independent. Scale controls how large the texture is on the surface and height controls the bump height (negative values can be used as well for this variable).

To piggyback on this question. I have noticed, that if I change the "scale" of my model, the texture scale will also change in appearance.

For example. If I add a ground plane geometry (Scale of 1), and add a noise procedural as the bump, have the scale of the texture at .5, then go back to the scale of the ground plane and make it a scale of 2, then my texture also doubles in size "visually", the # will be .5 still. This is how I would expect it to work I guess, but wondering if the bump height also changes "visually'.
