Title: Send to 3dsmax for animation - and back again?
Post by: Wonderboy75 on December 16, 2016, 12:36:46 AM
I wish the 3dsmax plugin for Keyshot could work twoways. We use keyshot for rendering of our Catia / Solidworks models during development, but often end up needing some advanced animations or effects that can only be achieved using 3dsmax or a similar animation package.

Keyshots CAD translation is excellent, but there isn't really a good way to get data out of Keyshot. OBJ only exports the whole scene as a single object.

Hide all other parts than the one(s) you want to export via OBJ - The exporter only exports what can be seen in the scene. However materials will not transfer over.

I'm aware you can do that, but it's not really good workflow if you have hundreds of parts.

But you can import animations from Max into KeyShot. Maybe it a change in workflow can get you what you want?
