Title: Texture just for one plane
Post by: lasertechnik on May 23, 2017, 02:14:38 AM
Hello,

I have no idea how to apply texture just for one plane of element, i don't want it on the whole model.
Can you help me?

(picture of plane is attached)

You need to use the geometry editor to split that plane out from the rest of the model. Right now that is all one single piece of geometry, so use the geometry editor to select that cylindrical part and split it out so that you will then have 2 separate pieces of geo to apply different textures to.

Hello Lasertechnik.

What CAD tool do you use for this? 'Cause instead of splitting geometry in KeyShot, you can use prepare CAD files with a different colour on the face that should be separated. Then you can apply different textures or materials to the splitter meshes.

The work with geometry editor disable the "update geometry" option when re-importing the CAD file - or for detail: the update geometry option will break the geometry editor work.

The right process is driven by well prepared CAD files.

Hope that helps
Cheers
