Title: Tortoise shell material, help finding some?
Post by: Xidor on February 26, 2011, 11:22:27 PM
Hi guys,

I have a client who is asking me if I can do a render of a product with a tortoise shell material.

I'd interested to learn how to create that, and maybe the example of the orange peel can be used to gain some knowledge on the process. But my time is short, so I'm guessing that there might be resources on line with paid or free textures and bump maps?

Many thanks!

Nelson

Thank you very much for the bip and material!! That's a real help.

I had a second to look at the file and I tried the tortoise shell material on another model. It works great! But I noticed that you can't do anything to it, like change the scale of it. I can change other parameters. I wanted to see if I could make the "flakes" bigger. It is cool how it's transparent in some areas and not in others and the change in gloss from the amber parts to the dark parts. Very cool!

Thanks again!
