Title: Perforated material with slot thickness and shading
Post by: Justin Desilva on June 26, 2017, 11:35:30 AM
I'd like to create a perforated material using a bump and opacity texture. After applying both textures I'm seeing two planes with perforations but not a thick material with walls inside each of the perforations. Is this possible using textures?

I do not believe so  :-\

This is something that would need to be modeled in. The opacity effect basically makes certain parts of a surface invisible to the camera, but it doesn't 'fill' in geometry behind that surface.

Maybe someone smarter has a better solution?
Good luck,
