Title: Which file format is best for downloading a TurboSquid 3D model into Keyshot?
Post by: AngelaD on September 03, 2017, 07:36:13 PM
I am trying to see how to import the 3D models from TurboSquid into Keyshot 7 and have them looking like they do on the Website - that is with the materials and textures all showing. I have downloaded a few of the free models and found that obj and fbx files can import into Keyshot, but the materials don't seem to be appearing with them. Checking or unchecking 'assign materials from library' in the Import panel does not seem to have any effect on either. There is probably something really basic I am not seeing, so sorry for the dumb question.

'Assign Materials from Library' will automate material assignments if the material names in the model match materials in the KeyShot Library. It will not create new materials.
You can read about this in more detail in the manual (https://luxion.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/K7M/pages/37954205/Import+Dialog).

You will have to recreate the material appearances yourself, using the provided the image textures.

Thank you Dries. I will keep experimenting.
