Title: How to do this? rotomoulding plastic
Post by: rauledo on June 03, 2011, 03:38:07 AM

Hello,

Anyone knows how to set up a good scenario, for this kind of objects.
I am very frustrated about creating emissive plastic like rotomoulding materials maintaining this plastic effect.

Could you give any advice about how to create this material, and scenario in terms of parameters

Thank you very much!

Just a beginner here but I would try and do a specular rendering using a reflective black for the plastic. In photoshop or gimp you have the rendering you did with the specular rendering as a layer over it, then make the black transparent leaving a ice gloss without changing the plastic texture.

Here is a normal render:

And here is the Specular rendering I did each one has a different reflectivity and specular color:

And combined:

There was a cool post with some cubes before that showed exactly this. Can't find it - anyone else remember it?
