Title: Questions about glass?
Post by: sburkhead on January 05, 2018, 07:04:41 PM
I am wondering why my glass is not glowing more? I needed to model this light. It has a 5mm thick glass. The light on the inside is an area light. I have pumped it up a lot, but still get areas of the glass that do not light up. Thoughts?

You enabled global illumination?

Adding a tiny amount of roughness will help too... since perfectly clear glass does not glow.

For glass it helps to increase the number of ray bounces in the lighting tab. Global illumination should not be too important. If the model contains diffuse elements then it may help to enable caustics. As Will stated, adding a some roughness to the glass helps as well.
