Title: Material Templates - SolidWorks
Post by: JRR_render on April 06, 2018, 04:55:10 AM
I'm trying to utilize the material templates tool and I can't figure out where in SolidWorks that I can apply the material name so that when I import the model into Keyshot the materials automatically apply.  Does anyone have any familiarity with SolidWorks and where I would name the material?  I've tried several options in SolidWorks already, but have been unsuccessful.  Thanks

Is Solidworks or KeyShot capable to transfer the name within the color?

Just look into the material column of the scene tree after importing a Solidworks file. Or send it via plugin from SWX. Are there differences in naming the materials?

Neutral formats like step or iges won't send the material name.

Hope you'll find the right track!

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Marco.  I did take a look at the color name that is assigned once the model has been imported into Keyshot, but unfortunately I am unable to find where or how that color name is assigned in SolidWorks.  I have gone into the material settings in SolidWorks and have played around with different areas for naming the material and/or color and so far anything I have tried has been unsuccessful.
