Title: Same Material - different mapping
Post by: JanRad on July 03, 2018, 01:27:39 AM
Hi all,

I have 6 wooden struts (cylindrical) which are scattered around. When I apply material and start adjusting mapping, it affects all elements. Can a mapping be adjusted for each element independently but having one material for all.

Thanks all
Jan

As of right now you need to use different materials for each. This linked materials behavior that you are experiencing is a double edged sword, it can be a lifesaver when wanting to make a change to a single material across all instances but can be a bit annoying when trying to get random results.

Thanks anyway!

Maybe some tricks with importing uv mapping  (from rhino) could help. I think I saw in one of webinars that it is possible to import uv info from modeling software.
