Title: How to animate extending/retracting material
Post by: weezer19 on July 14, 2018, 07:03:10 AM
This is my first Post.  I couldn't find this Topic in a Search, but my apologies if this has been covered already.  I need to animate a part getting longer.  My CREO model "extends" simply by modifying the Pattern quantity from 1 to 10.  My model looks like a corrugated metal fire pit ring (Pattern qty 1) and the extended state is simply that same geometry Patterned 10 times.  Best exampled is like animating the extension of a vent hose on a clothes Dryer (corrugated/accordion tubing).

You could probably do something like in the anim attached to this post (https://www.keyshot.com/forum/index.php?topic=19697.msg90691#msg90691), only in reverse to give the impression of extending.

For this animation you need:
- the entire / final geometry (qty 10)
- a color fade texture (B&W) in the opacity channel
- a number animation linked to the shift of the color fade texture moving the transparency from bottom to to

Hope that helps
