Title: White Noise in Shadow
Post by: CoraleeS on August 14, 2018, 08:45:29 AM
I'm challenged to eliminate the white noise occurring in shadows on my model. I've reviewed this topic in previous posts and already tried adjusting samples, shadow quality and GI, etc. I've rendered the region at different settings and cannot fix it. I know you all are awesome and have some suggestions for me.  :)
Additional note: I have self shadows enabled, no ground reflections, ground illumination or ground shadows. Material is a cylindrical brush texture mapped to both color and bump...several different directions (this is also challenging, but I know the answer to that).

Taking a shot in the dark here, but what is your bump height setting?

I've seen artifacts pop up in the past when I've pushed my bump setting too far. Not saying that is the case here, but that's where I would start.

Would be helpful to see your material graph, I don't think this is a render setting issue.
