Yes, I have received a lot of spam at a forum in recent days.

For now, I have banished the spam to the pits they spawned from.

Yeah, me too. I just do the same, report it then the users get banned. Not much else to do. There is a truck forum that I was part of that required new members to post in a "Welcome" Thread first before they could post elsewhere. Not sure if that is easy to implement.

I dislike that option on other forums that have had it, though maybe it could be private so you post and only staff could see it. That would be a good compromise. More like an 'Introduce yourself to the staff' forum.
