Why does Keyshot not round edges of models that have been imported? We have found that if you live link through our Rhino 6 plugin it will work but it requires us to have other work arounds, such as all materials come in as plastic and require changes. Is there a default for materials for live linking?
Please see below pictures of Live Link vs. Imported (Both solid blocks and thin material with rounded edges), using Keyshot 8.
Are you saying that rounded edges are not preserved if you update models via import?
No, it is dependent on the way you import your model into keyshot. If you drag a new file into keyshot or select the option to import, thin objects won't round its edges. If you select live link through the rhino plug in and send it to keyshot it will allow it to round edges of smaller objects.
That sounds like a scaling issue.

mattjgerard, it should not be a scaling issue because it will round just fine on a live link and we have done this for years in Keyshot 6
Would you be able to share your model with us (support@luxion.com), so we can take a look at the issue?
Yes I will send it right over
So I heard back from support that this is an issue of how rounded corners work and is calculated on the incoming geometry. It looks like the nurbs based geometry from rhino is not supported to do rounded corners and the live link plugin converts that geometry.
Will there be a fix for this?
We are looking into an approach that would work for NURBS as well.
