Title: Surface engraving/sand carving on the surface of glass

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a glass material that can have surface engraving (blasted to make it rough) as well as color filling in the surface engraving. I'm in the glass industry and this is a very common thing that we need to show our clients. The closest thing I have tried so far is using the plastic material and adding a .tif file with alpha to the texture channel. The problem that I see is that the plastic material doesn't even look like glass. I also cant make just the engraving look rough.
Any thoughts?

You might try adding surface splits in your CAD program in the areas that you want roughed in, assign them a different colour, then when you import into KS you can copy the glass material to these areas, and increase the roughness for those areas only. Here's a sample:
