Title: Black stained/dyed wood
Post by: proddescn on April 19, 2019, 05:49:30 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm just in the process of rendering a piece of furniture with a black dyed ash finish like in the attachments. I'm struggling to get the grain to look right however. Any tips or advice anyone can give to acheive this would be massively appreciated.

I would try using this attached texture for the diffuse, specular and bump.

I'd start with any normal wood material, put a utility node between the map and the material (color adjust for example, to desaturate the map) and check the Blend with Color box (and just pick a dark gray).
From there on it should be relatively close to what you need?

Thank you both! Got the material sorted now, just need to get the lighting right.
