Title: Mapping mesh texture across multiple surfaces?
Post by: DMucci on September 29, 2011, 12:59:39 PM
How do I go about mapping a mesh texture (like a metal grill) consistantly across surface changes?

Using the "General" material type, under the 'Parameters' tab, I have applied an alpha channel texture map. Doing this I can get my grill texture to map correctly (opaque grille, transparent negative space) but the scale changes across different surfaces.

I would normally change the projection if this were a non scale oriented material, but in the 'Parameters' tab of the 'General' material type, I do not have this drop down box. It is only offered under the other tabs.

Is there another way to do this and control the projection?

Right now there is no good way of getting this done well, not unless you texture your model in the modeling software first.

KeyShot 3 will address this nicely.
