Title: Light source only for certain parts of 3d model
Post by: SK1107 on August 20, 2019, 10:54:34 AM
Hey,

Is it possible at all to make additional feature for light sources (ies, emissive or other) which will allow to pick only specific parts which will be affected by this light source? And this light source will not affect other parts of 3d model?

Thanks

Maybe it would work with the experimental feature ray mask on this particular parts material?
But I have to run a test.

No Marco, it doesn't work with the Ray Mask node. You would need an implementation like in Cut Away with a list of objects to include/exclude from the light source.

+1 for that feature

Yep, I'd +1 this as well, although there might be some resistance to it due to it not being naturally or physically accurate. But being able to assign different HDR's or light interactions to objects or groups would be a killer feature.

Or simply the option to exclude an object from a specific light

I'd LOVE this feature to be implemented as well. Great idea!
