Title: White silicon rubber with Sub surface scatter (translucent) ability
Post by: adamwade on October 11, 2019, 03:52:21 PM
I'm struggling to make a white (not clear, not grey) silicon rubber that can have physical LED lights behind it and shine through.  It's been easy to use cloudy plastic as long as it's a color or clear, but somehow a nice bright white isn't working.

Regular old Translucent material works fine for me.
You need to balance the material settings with the environment and led brightness (my example is perhaps still a bit dark, but if you look at your photo, those samples aren't pure white either).

Hey thanks.  I was using Cloudy I think since is has a very realistic sub surface scattering effect.  Sorry for the late response as we had a big deadline.
I will play with the Translucent.

I will play with the Translucent.

I recently did some informal quick testing to see which material clears up the quickest to an acceptable level, and cloudy was by far the slowest.
If you can get away with regular translucent material I would recommend that.
