Title: Fuzz - that is all!
Post by: quigley on November 06, 2019, 10:59:10 AM
Keyshot 9 Fuzz. Possibly the best new feature ever! The measured materials are also great for cloth.
Literally just started playing but already seeing some great potential with that one feature alone.

Downsides? The model library on the Cloud Library is a bit, well, meh. If you want to render bread and pizza you'll be happy but I was kind of hoping for some more realworld applications of the type of things product designers tend to work on. Like people, or architectural details, or even dynamic backdrops etc.

Also, I was hoping for better control over UV mapping so we can fix up stuff rather than having to go outside the app. I must admit I thought that was coming but don't see anything obvious that has changed? Did it not make the cut?

Glad you like the Fuzz - looking forward to seeing some images.

Regarding UV tools, we did not get it to the quality we wanted for 9.0, but we are continuing working on it.

Its Brilliant stuff.

First Image is poly Hair and Fur from 3DS Max, second is the new Fuzz shader.

Img1 - 1.3m polygons - Render time 7:14

Img2 - 140k polygons - Render time 2:34

It would be better if the Fuzz Surface node could take textures to control colours at the base of each fiber instead of projecting textures through the fuzz itself If this functionality is available I cant seem to find it.

If your surface is UV-mapped, the Fuzz curves inherit the surface uvs. In this case, if you assign a texture map with UV mapping to Fuzz (or another surface node on Fuzz). Then each individual curve should get the color from the base point.

The Asset Library will continue to be updated all the time. For the first pass we were focused on"scene dressing" assets that would help augment users existing scenes. As we get more feedback from customers we will add more variety and complexity to the Library.
