Title: Spam Repellent or Filter Needed
Post by: HaroldL on January 22, 2020, 06:43:49 PM
What's with all the spam postings lately? Need more repellent or stronger filtering.

Indeed. I report them to the mod as soon as I see them in an effort to get them removed faster. I'm not sure if it's helping but it makes me feel better.

It is tricky. We have turned on a lot of spam filtering including recaptcha and email verification, but those spammers apparently have nothing better to do than register and post on our forum :/

I know there are forum moderators, but have community moderators ever been considered? There would have to be a process to validate a community mod, but then they could put suspicious accounts in "time out" until a forum mod could get to it. That might help decrease the volume of spam. Just a thought!
