Title: clown - why you gotta be like that?
Post by: andy.engelkemier on March 09, 2020, 09:45:21 AM
Here's a closeup. How many materials do you see. The blacks are similar, but aren't the same. And they correctly have two materials in clown mask.
And the red? Well, I guess keyshot feels that red is the same as black.   :o

The thing that sucks about this is you don't know what it's going to do until you render. I often look at my blacks to be sure they are different. But I didn't expect black and red to even be an issue.

If you haven't guessed the issue yet....it's likely caused by a multi-material. The black that it matches is just a black material. The red is a multi-material.

I'd submit my Own clown mask, but unless you're using DOF, or using it for an animation, then it's not worth the time. Just make a selection in photoshop and move on. But it sure would be nice if clown masks did what you expected.

*Facepalm*
nevermind. The value is different by 13...in one color. It did the same thing to me with a turquoise color. 13 different. It picks RGB first, but then it just starts going crazy. I would do RGBCMY, then the order would be divisions of those in the Middle. Not just 13 apart. I'm not sure why they don't just have one set array that is always used in the same order. It seems odd that if I just hide one object, then I get completely different clown results for the entire image.

But ok, I guess it's technically working.

looks like a topic that should be thrown on wishlist: https://forum.keyshot.com/index.php?board=8.0

I posted it on the wishlist years ago, and gave a specific 3dsMax plugin example to look at for reference.
Oh, would be cool to allow the user to specify the order based on a color library too. That would be killer.
