Title: New Machine - 3970X - Odd performance?
Post by: nick888 on May 29, 2020, 12:33:50 AM
Just got a new machine in the office.

AMD 3970X
64GB RAM
2 x 2080 SUPER
KeyShot 8.2

I'm getting (a lot) slower than expected Camera benchmark performance, but the KeyShot 9 viewer benchmark seems to be more or less accurate?

Is KeyShot 8.2 not able to utilise a 3970X properly or is something else going on here?

KeyShot Viewer 9.3.14 Benchmark Result
CPU result: (AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core Processor  - Threads: 64) 8.33
GPU result: (2x GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER with Driver: 446.14) 53.58

If you want to compare your FPS number with others, don't change the camera angle...
but now, the Camera benchmark is obsolete...read the top post: "Welcome to our Benchmark category - read this first (updated)!"
KeyShot Viewer benchmark is more accurate than the FPS number of the Camera benchmark, in my experience.
