I am having a really tough time coming up with a consistent black brushed aluminium. I am relatively knew to the program and this one is the first real snag. What base material would be best to start with? Should I use a bump or a texture?
Long shot: does anyone have a good one they would be willing to share?

Use metal, apply the image as a bump map, change the scale and depth of the brush, and then change the roughness of the metal.
