Title: Color Gradient over any texture previously applied to the model

It is possible to apply a Color Gradient over any previous texture?
I zm trying to create a Color Gradient (red to Transparent) to a table LEG. see sample here:

It is possible? how?

Use a label with a color gradient texture to control the opacity. In the example, if you don't want the wood grain to show through the red, just disconnect the bump from the paint label.
