Title: Need smooth texture_newbie question
Post by: bluenite on January 26, 2021, 03:09:21 PM
Please don't scold me, maybe it's a trivial thing:
Some time ago I asked about the possibility of smoothing the edges of the object texture. I have a similar problem, see the attachment. How to achieve a continuous surface without sharp transitions? The object is imported from a free furniture database, format skp v2018. Is it poor quality texturing or a 3d model? Or is it related to nurbs surfaces which Sketchup don't know? Is there a way to fix it somehow here or with some format translator? Keyshot is version 9.1.98_64Pro.
Thx for any answer
Peter

Use the Normals tool and recalculate the normals for the object, but yeah that looks to be pretty rough geometry, not sure you will be able to do much.

ok I understand.
Will recalculation normals help? I mean in general, not just for this case. This is probably bad geometry anyway.

It help in many cases but don't do miracle with poor geometry object ;)

You could try to use something like Blender so smooth the surfaces before bringing it back into Keyshot.
