Title: shared folder color palettes
Post by: o_0 on June 29, 2021, 12:29:48 PM
I have a custom color palette that I have exported out of a keyshot as a .kcp. I would like to place it in a shared folder that others will see. I can't get this to work. I seem to be able to export a kcp that imports correctly, but placing that exported kcp file in the designated shared folder doesn't work. It seems to be ignored.

If I copy any of the kcl files that come with Keyshot from my documents directory (FED-STD-595, RAL, or PANTONE) into the shared folder, it works fine so I don't think it's the folder.

How do I create a kcl file? I'm assuming that's a keyshot color library? Has anyone gotten this to work?

Thanks in advance.

I've never been able to get networked color libraries to work; I remember chatting with the development team about this around the KS5/KS6 era and there wasn't a solution at that time.

The simplest workaround is to import/export color groups instead of using the networked location. This definitely doesn't replace having a shared color repository, hopefully you don't have a ton of users :/
